By themselves, the pulse and rhythmic drive evoke feelings of festivity with clangs of iron and metal- an abrasive symphony of energy. The sounds of the dudups drums seems to wake our ancestral roots. The unfiltered expression of jubilation and happiness felt at Carnival celebrations, the ritualistic movements of J’ouvert as we cover our bodies in paint and powder to the clangs of a percussive melody that carries us through the streets; when you are free from ‘de tabanca’, you have returned to one self and you are home.
