about THE COMPANY
Monét Movement Productions The Collective is a multifaceted dance company founded in May 2020. The Collective displays works that range in style from contemporary to Afro-Caribbean displaying the versatility of the dancing and choreographic vessel. We create space for the fusion of genres. Sharing stories that are personal, social, and/or cultural in nature represents The Collective and the world around us. By promoting self-individuality and equality we strive to create a safe space for dancers and audience members who seek to be a part of and witness transformative performances.
MISSION
The mission of Monét Movement Productions The Collective is to create a body of works, curate cultural events that embrace and proliferate Caribbean culture, and highlight the cultural values of Trinidad and Tobago. Artistically, MMPTC’s common thread is derived from the flag colors red, white, and black. A symbolic perception, we embody and represent red as the life force —passion, white for purity—authenticity, and black conjured power—strength.
By cultivating artistry through innovative choreography and intentional movement, works are able to generate meaningful connections that provide captivating images for the dancers and audience. All aspects of the artistic voice are embraced by honoring both tradition and innovation within dance. Dynamic stories are illustrated through boundless and robust movement. The versatility of the dancers is evident through their strong presence, power, and passion. MMPTC promotes individuality and freedom by building a platform that shares art with various communities.
